Jr. GOYA
Mary Sarantes and Angie Karavedas
Jr. Goya is a youth ministry program of St. Sophia Cathedral for 6th – 8th graders. Jr. Goya offers events for kids with four basic themes in mind: Spiritual, Social, Service & Witness.
Children in Jr. Goya are on the verge of some big changes in their lives. During this time, it is important that our Holy Orthodox Church offer programs that will guide our children, as they become teenagers.
As Orthodox Christians, we believe that God reveals himself through the Bible and Holy Tradition. Orthodox Christian Worship is the living expression of these, and is therefore a very important element in Jr. Goya.
Social events are the way our Jr. Goya integrate their daily lives and friendships with their faith. It is always a blessing to have our children, parents and youth leaders come together in a social setting organized by the Church leaders.
Jr. Goya participants are urged to serve by doing good works as Christ taught us to do. Jr. Goya kids are asked to use their God-given talents to serve those in need. Service is an integral part of the Orthodox Christian Faith.
Children are encouraged to live a Christian life and use the Orthodox Christian teachings as examples to strive for. Our youth leaders are dedicated to the mission of teaching the Christian life to our children through the Jr. Goya program. We look forward to having you join our group.
